Athletics: Sebastian Coe (GBR) re-elected president of World Athletics for four years

Great Britain's Sebastian Coe (66) has been re-elected president of World Athletics (formerly the IAAF) for a third and final four-year term at the 54^th Annual Congress of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF), held by videoconference from Budapest (Hungary) on 17/08/2023, ahead of the 2023 World Championships to be held in the Hungarian capital from 19 to 27/08/2023. The double Olympic champion in the 1,500 metres (in 1980 and 1984), the only candidate in the running, received 192 votes, with three abstentions.

Sebastian Coe was elected for a first four-year term at the 50^th Congress of the International Athletics Federation in Beijing (China) on 19/08/2015. He succeeded Lamine Diack of Senegal, who had held the post since 1999. The Briton, who was unanimously re-elected on 25/09/2019, became the sixth president of World Athletics since its creation in 1912 (under the name IAAF).
