SV Werder Bremen: bus service replaced by trams for travel to the Weserstadion

In collaboration with its partner BSAG (Bremer Straßenbahn AG, Bremen's public transport provider) and the city's police force, SV Werder Bremen (Bundesliga) has replaced the bus service that used to take fans to the wohninest Weserstadion (42,100 capacity) on matchdays with a tram service, announced the club on 15/08/2023.

Werder Bremen, who will host FC Bayern Munich on Friday 18/08/2023 for the launch of the 2023-24 Bundesliga season, explained the change as a move to promote more sustainable transport that emits less CO2. "Up to 19 trams will be in service for the fans. The park-and-ride service from Hemelinger Hafen to the Weserstadion will continue," said the club.

"With a view to future changes such as the premium bicycle route on the Osterdeich (one of the  city's main roads), the restructuring of the traffic concept is an anticipation of upcoming adjustments around our home ground," said Lars Mühlbradt, event director at Werder Bremen.
