Women's World Cup 2023: Spain crowned world champions for the first time

Spain were crowned world champions after their 1-0 victory versus England in the final of the Women's World Cup 2023 at Stadium Australia (75,784 capacity) in Sydney (Australia), on Sunday 20/08/2023.

Having been eliminated in the group stage in 2015 and in the Round of 16 in 2019 versus the United States, the last winners of the tournament, La Roja played their very first final of a Women's World Cup in just their third appearance in the competition.

Thanks to this success, the Real Federacion Espanola de Futbol (RFEF) will receive $4.29m (€3.94m) in prize money and the Spanish players will each receive $270,000 (€248,000) from FIFA.

Ranked sixth in the FIFA women's national team rankings (as of 09/06/2023), the Spanish team has nearly 733,000 followers on its three dedicated social media accounts (Instagram, Facebook and X/Twitter).
