Shakhtar Donetsk: European home games to be played at the Volksparkstadion (Hamburg, GER) in 2023-24

Shakhtar Donetsk, winners of the Ukrainian Premier League in 2022-23 and therefore qualified for the group stage of the 2023-24 Champions League, will play their European home games at Hamburger Sport-Verein's (2.Bundesliga) Volksparkstadion (51,500 capacity for international fixtures), announced the club on 18/08/2023.

The decision, taken in agreement with UEFA in view of Russia's war in Ukraine, stipulates that the organisation and ticketing will be managed by the club, which plays in Germany's second division. Hamburger SV will "receive a commission for the provision of the stadium (one of the venues in Germany that will host Euro 2024 matches) and its facilities," said the German club.

During the Shakhtar Donetsk matches in Hamburg, "spectators will have various opportunities to donate to the Donetsk-based charity 'Shakhtar Social' and the #WeAreAllUkrainians organisation in Hamburg," added the German club.
