Turkey/Syria earthquake: €60,163 raised by the European Club Association via a shirt auction

The European Club Association (ECA) has raised €60,163 through an online auction of 200 shirts from 175 clubs on the MatchWornShirt platform, to support the work of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) for the 18.5 million people affected by the February 2023 earthquakes in Turkey and Syria, announced the body on 19/08/2023.

At the ECA's general assembly in Budapest (Hungary) on 28/03/2023, its member clubs (245 in 2022-23) and those in its network (100 additional clubs) were invited to bring along a signed shirt for a charity sale to support a fund for the victims of the earthquakes that had taken place a few weeks earlier.

"The €60,163 raised goes alongside the €500,000 agreed by ECA at its board meeting in March in Milan (Italy) as a donation from member and network clubs to the earthquake relief effort supported by the UNHCR," added the European Club Association.
