FIFA: 16.6 million women & girls playing "organised" football worldwide in 2023 (+24.8% vs 2019)

The number of women and girls playing "organised" football (i.e. in a structure or club under the aegis of a FIFA member association) has risen from 13.3 million in 2019 to 16.6 million in 2023 (+24.8%), according to FIFA in its "Women's Football: Member Associations Survey Report 2023" in which it published a series of figures, the day of the Women's World Cup 2023 final, on 20/08/2023.

Produced in partnership with audit and consultancy firm Deloitte, the document is the result of a 60-question survey answered by 203 of FIFA's 211 member associations, with the aim "to better understand the current global landscape and identify next steps needed to further accelerate the growth of the game in a tailor-made way."
