Tennis: guaranteed base earnings for the 250 highest ranked ATP players from 2024

The Association of Tennis Professionals has unveiled "a transformative financial security programme for ATP players" in the form of "guaranteed base earnings" for the 250 top-ranked ATP players from 2024 and for three test seasons (2024-2026), announced the body on 22/08/2023.

This project, dubbed "Baseline", is "a major first in the history of the ATP Tour" and aims to enable a greater number of players to make a living from their sport. The ATP estimates that this support programme should involve between 30 and 45 players each season. "This initiative is a complete shift in the way tennis approaches player finances," said Andrea Gaudenzi, chairman of the ATP.

The ATP ranking, annual earnings and the number of events played by a player on the ATP Tour and Challenger Tour are the criteria used to determine whether or not a player is eligible for this compensation.
