Padel: QSI, promoter of Premier Padel, acquires the World Padel Tour and merges the two circuits

Qatar Sports Investments, the Qatari sovereign wealth fund that launched the Premier Padel world circuit in 2022, has acquired the World Padel Tour (WPT) from Spanish brewer Damm, thereby merging the two competing world circuits to create "a single global professional padel tour - called Premier Padel - governed by the International Padel Federation (FIP)," announced the parties on 24/08/2023.

The competitions will be unified in 2024, while the current 2023 season will continue to be contested on two separate circuits. "This is an historic moment for the sport of padel. As the fastest-growing sport globally, QSI is proud to be at the heart of driving the development of padel professionally all around the world, always placing the players at the centre of our mission to grow the sport everywhere," said Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, chairman of QSI and Premier Padel.
