Atalanta BC: "Stadium capacity to be increased in keeping with the size of the city" (U. Marino)

"The capacity of the Gewiss Stadium (Bergamo, ITA) will be increased to nearly 25,000 seats (from 19,768 at present) on completion of the renovation and expansion work, which is more in keeping with the size of the city. It's important to have stadiums that are in tune with the population and that offer a good image for television," said Umberto Marino, CEO of Atalanta BC (Serie A TIM) on Radio TV Serie A, the official radio of the Lega Serie A, on 22/08/2023.

"We are starting the third phase of the works, the most invasive, which will last 14 months. The Curva Sud will be rebuilt and 400 underground parking spaces created, while the outside of the stadium will be remodelled. It's a way of making the area liveable and safe," added Marino, commenting on the work, which began in May 2019 and is due to be completed in summer 2024, with an initial estimated budget of €35m.
