Goal-line technology will soon be tested in the Serie A TIM, said Carlo Tavecchio, president of the FIGC (Italian Football Federation), to students pursuing a Master's degree in sports business in Treviso (ITA) on 09/12/2014. "In February (2015), we will have the first answers," stated Carlo Tavecchio.

"If all the great Italian stadiums are equipped with such devices, the total cost should not exceed €4m, compared with the audiovisual rights deal with revenues of €1.2bn," said the president of the Italian Federation. Carlo Tavecchio wants goal-line technology is used permanently in the Serie A from the 2015-16 season.

"At the next Federal Council, I will propose a joint commission of Serie A and Serie B clubs to study the introduction of goal-line technology. This is a choice that does not depend on the IFAB (International Football Association Board, the body which protects of the Laws of the Game) or FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association), but on us," added Carlo Tavecchio to the Italian radio station GR Parlamento on 08/12/2014.
