South Africa: Emirates gets naming rights to Ellis Park, title sponsor of the Golden Lions (rugby)

Emirates Airline has received the naming rights to Ellis Park (capacity 62,500), the stadium based in Johannesburg (South Africa) until 2020, the company announced on 10/12/2014. The stadium will now officially be called Emirates Airline Park from 01/01/2015. This is the second sports stadium to bear the name of the company after the Emirates Stadium (capacity 60,000 seats) in London for Arsenal FC (Barclays Premier League).

The overall contract includes a shirt sponsorship agreement for a similar period with the Golden Lions (Rugby, Super 15), owner of the stadium that hosted seven of the 64 matches of the 2010 World Cup. The agreement also involves the affiliation the company's name as the title sponsor of the famous rugby team, which is now called the "Emirates Lions", and will include a new logo. The contract is valued at €1.4m per year.
