Spain: letter of apology "to the world of football and society" from P. Rocha, president of the RFEF

"The RFEF wants to convey to the whole of society and to the whole of world football its deepest regret for what has happened, which has tarnished our national team, our football and our society," said Pedro Rocha, interim president of the Spanish Football Federation, on 05/09/2023, regarding the "the totally unacceptable behavior of its highest institutional representative during the final of the Women’s World Cup 2023 (Spain - England, 1-0, on 20/08/2023) and in the moments that followed."

Luis Rubiales, president of the Real Federacion Espanola de Futbol, kissed striker Jennifer Hermoso on the mouth, against her will, as the Spanish women footballers were waving to the officials before the presentation of the trophy at the end of the World Cup final. 

The FIFA Disciplinary Committee has suspended Luis Rubiales from "all football-related activities" for 90 days on 26/08/2023, which led to him being replaced by Pedro Rocha as president of the Spanish Federation.
