Europa League: Steaua Bucharest able to play with their name and logo against Dynamo Kiev (0-2)

FC Steaua Bucharest (Liga 1, Romanian first division) was able to use its name, colours when hosting the Ukrainian club Dynamo Kiev (0-2) during the 6^th and final matchday of Group J of the Europa League 2014-15 on 11/12/2014.

The High Court of Justice of Romania decided, on 03/12/2014, to ban FC Steaua Bucharest from using the trademark "Steaua" -- "Star" in Romanian -- as well as its normal red and blue colours and the club logo, since they are all properties held by the Romanian Ministry of Defence, which founded the club in 1947 and managed it until 1998, the date of creation of the limited company FC Steaua Bucureşti and separation from the Omnisport Association Steaua Rangers (CSA Sports Club of the Army).

• The same Romanian high court had allowed the businessman George "Gigi" Becali, following his takeover of the club in 2003 and its IPO the following year, to be able to use the name, the colours and the logo of Steaua for an additional 10 years, from 2004.
