(In 2026) it will have been 32 years since Concacaf Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean) has hosted a World Cup, with last one the 1994 edition (in the United States). Because of this, I am sure the 2026 (World Cup) belongs to CONCACAF," said Jeffrey Webb, president of the confederation, on 09/12/2014.

After strong interest from Canada and the United States, the Mexican Federation announced its intention to join the bidding for the organisation of the 2026 World Cup. "I'll remind you that in 2016 we're going to have the FIFA World Congress here in Mexico, which (CONCACAF president) Jeffrey (Webb) helped us land," said Justino Compeán, president of the FMF (Mexican Football Federation), on 11/12/2014.

  • Mexico has already organised two editions of the World Cup, in 1970 and in 1986.
  • Russia will host the 2018 World Cup and Qatar the 2022 edition.
