FFF: deal reached with the French national team for a new agreement concerning players' image rights

The Fédération Française de Football (FFF) and the players of the French national team have reached agreement on a new agreement concerning the management of their image rights, announced the body on 11/09/2023.

Kylian Mbappé and his entourage, followed in particular by Antoine Griezmann and his advisers, challenged the 2010 agreement relating to the transfer of collective image rights, and in particular the obligations of all international footballers vis-à-vis the FFF's partners, who could, in their view, either convey messages contrary to their vision of high-level sportsmen and women (junk food, soft drinks, online betting, etc.), or compete with their own partners. For its part, the FFF emphasised the importance of sponsors in financing amateur football and the risk of seeing them drift away if Les Bleus refused to take part in marketing operations.
