FC Bayern Munich: departure of Michael Gerlinger, vice president sports business & competitions

Michael Gerlinger, vice president sports business and competitions at FC Bayern Munich (Bundesliga), will leave the club on 30/09, announced the club on 13/09/2023. Michael Gerlinger joined the Bavarian club in 2005 as director of legal affairs after initially working with Bayern as an external lawyer.

"I regret that Michael is leaving FC Bayern. With his great expertise and his outstanding network throughout the footballing world, he has done FC Bayern a great service. The founding of the European Club Association (ECA) and UEFA Events SA, the introduction of release fees and insurance cover for our international players or the negotiation of distribution scales and solidarity payments are just some of the merits in his time at FC Bayern, during which I always worked closely and trustfully with him," said Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, a member of Bayern's supervisory board, where he was CEO from 2002 to 2021, and who initiated Michael Gerlinger's arrival at the club.
