MLS: league sets new play-off attendance record with 23,630 spectators per match in 2014

MLS (Major League Soccer, USA-CAN) set a new record for match attendance during the league's 2014 play-off series, averaging 23,630 spectators per match for the 15 play-off matches (including the MLS Cup final), the league announced on 11/12/2014.

The league also set a new mark by selling out 10 of the 15 play-off matches. MLS expanded its play-off format to include ten teams qualifying (five from each conference) for the 15 match elimination series in 2012.
