Euro 2016: "It is €38m and not €150m or €200m that UEFA would normally pay to France" (J. Lambert)

"As long as we want to be objective, it is difficult to argue that the Euro tournament is a negative event for France and for the French economy," said Jacques Lambert, president of the EURO 2016 SAS, at the assembly of the FFF (French Football Federation) in Paris on 13/12/2014. Lambert presented about the fiscal, economic, and -- in terms of positive image -- aspects that should result from France hosting Euro 2016 (from 10/06 10/07/2016).

The French National Assembly (parliament) will, in its next reading on 16/12/2014, examine the draft of the supplementary budget law for 2014 that contains the tax exemption for the Euro 2016 event, in accordance with the commitments made at the filing of the application to host the event on 15/02/2010. "We estimate that it is approximately €38m in income tax that UEFA and/or EURO 2016 SAS would normally pay. It is not €150m or €200m, as has been stated incorrectly in the parliamentary debate, and that is unfortunate," said Jacques Lambert.
