The Deutsche Fußball Liga has paid €33.8m to Bundesliga and 2.Bundesliga clubs for playing time given to their young players during the 2022-23 season, announced the German league on 20/09/2023.

This sum corresponds to 3% of the total amount derived from the marketing of domestic media rights in Germany's top two divisions in 2022-23 (as in 2021-22) and will rise to 4% in 2023-24 and 2024-25 in order to give even greater recognition to the best formative clubs.

This "young talent" criterion included in the distribution of TV rights for German professional football is based two-thirds on the number of minutes played in the league by players under the age of 23 with the status of "locally trained player" (at least three seasons with a German club between the ages of 15 and 21), and one-third on the time spent by these players in a training centre of one or more of the 36 professional clubs (18 in the Bundesliga, 18 in the 2.Bundesliga) from the age of 12.
