Women's football/Barclays WSL: a record attendance of 54,115 spectators during Arsenal - Liverpool

54,115 spectators were present to watch the Arsenal FC - Liverpool FC (0-1) at the Emirates Stadium (London, ENG), on Matchday 1 of the 2023-24 Barclays Women's Super League season, on Sunday 01/10/2023.

This is an unprecedented attendance for the English women's league, the previous record of which was established during the match between Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur FC (4-0), on Saturday 24/09/2022, which was attended by 47,367 spectators, also at the Emirates Stadium.

The highest attendance for a national women's club competition in England, however, was 77,390 spectators recorded at Wembley Stadium (90,000 capacity, London) during the 2023 Vitality Women's FA Cup final which saw Chelsea FC win 1-0 versus Manchester United FC, on Sunday 14/05/2023.

In terms of international competitions, the Women's Euro 2022 final (England 2-1 victory over Germany) drew 87,192 spectators, again at Wembley Stadium, on 31/07/2022.
