Sports betting: FDJ finalises acquisition of ZEturf group (online horse racing & sports betting)

La Française des Jeux (FDJ) has announced the completion of the acquisition of the ZEturf group, an online horse betting and sports betting operator under the ZEbet brand, "for an enterprise value of €175m," on 29/09/2023.

"This acquisition makes FDJ Group France’s 4^th-largest player in online gaming open to competition (sports betting, horse-race betting and poker), with a market share of over 10%," said the Group.

This completion follows a decision by the French Competition Authority, which authorised the takeover "subject to conditions" on 15/09/2023. "In order to make the most of the potential offered by the tie-up with ZEturf and the synergies within its online business open to competition, FDJ Group will put in place a new organisational structure for this business, in line with the commitments made to the French Competition Authority," explaied FDJ.

The French group officially announced the acquisition of ZEturf on 17/11/2022 after having entered into exclusive negotiations with the operator on 19/09/2022.
