Netherlands: RTL Nederland retains TV rights to the Europa League for the 2015-2018 cycle

RTL Nederland, the Dutch private free-TV group, has extended its distribution rights of the Europa League on free-TV in the Netherlands for the 2015-2018 cycle, on 11/12/2014. RTL Nederland has held the free-TV broadcasting rights of the Europa League in the Netherlands since 2009-10.

RTL Nederland broadcasts matches of Europa League live, and summaries of them on the RTL 7 channel and its video streaming platform on the Internet and mobile devices, RTL XL.

Netherlands: broadcasting rights to the Champions League

  • Free-TV: since the launch of the Champions League in 1992, the competition's broadcast rights were held in the Netherlands by the public service broadcaster NOS.
    • NOS indicated on 19/03/2014 that it would not extend its broadcasting rights for the Champions League, due to budget cuts.
  • Pay-TV: the 2012-2015 broadcast rights are held by the Sport1 group, owned by the cable operator Liberty Global.
    • The 2015-2018 TV rights for Dutch pay-TV have not yet been awarded by UEFA.
