CAF/African Football League: $14.4m in prize money for the 8 clubs, including $4m for the winners

The inaugural edition of the African Football League (AFL), CAF's new club competition organised in partnership with FIFA, will be worth $14.4m (€13.8m as of 04/10/2023), announced the Confédération Africaine de Football on 30/09/2023.

In detail, the prize money for the 2023 AFL is broken down as follows:
• $4,000,000 (€3.8m) for the winners
• $3,000,000 (€2.9m) for the runners-up;
• $1,700,000 (€1.6m) for each of the other two semi-finalists;
• $1,000,000 (€955,000) for each of the other four quarter-finalists.

This first edition will bring together "8 of Africa's most famous and successful teams (see list below) from the 3 African Regional Blocks which are: the North Region, the Central-West Region and the South-East Region" in a two-legged knockout phase (home and away) starting from the quarter-finals. The competition will begin on 20/10/2023 with the opening ceremony and first match in Dar-es-Salaam (Tanzania) between Simba SC (Tanzania) and Al Ahly SC (Egypt) and will end with the first and second leg of the final on 05 and 11/11/2023.
