Caribbean: DirecTV acquires TV rights to FIFA competitions, including the World Cups 2018 and 2022

The pay-TV group DirecTV acquired the exclusive distribution rights, in the Caribbean, to several competitions organised by FIFA (Federation Internationale de Football Association) between 2015 and 2022, on 16/12/2014.

The TV rights package includes the 2015 Women's World Cup (Canada, from 06/06 to 05/07/2015), the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup (Russia) and World Cups 2018 (Russia) and 2022 (Qatar). It also includes the 2015 U-17 (Chile, from 17/10 to 08/11/2015) and U-20 (New Zealand, from 30/05 to 20/06/2015) World Cups, and the 2017 editions, 2019 and 2021 editions of these competitions youth competitions.

The pay-TV platform DirecTV is available in 25 countries and territories in the Caribbean. DirecTV Sports broadcast rights include Liga BBVA, the Barclays Premier League and Ligue 1. The DirecTV package also offers the American channels Fox Sports (2014 Club World Cup 2014) and ESPN (Serie A TIM, Copa del Rey (Spanish cup), Eredivisie).
