The American pay-TV group ESPN (The Walt Disney Company), the American audiovisual group CBS (Paramount Global), the American e-commerce group Amazon and the American media group Scripps Networks have reportedly acquired the rights to broadcast the National Women’s Soccer League in the United States for the 2023-2027 cycle, according to the American website Sportico on 06/10/2023.

The rights to broadcast the NWSL in the United States and Canada are currently held by the CBS Group for the 2020-2023 cycle, at an estimated cost of $1.5m (€1.42m) per season. According to Sportico, the total cost of the rights for the new cycle will be ten times higher.

Portland Thorns FC - Kansas City Current (2-0), the final of the 2022 NWSL season, drew an average of 915,000 viewers on the English-language American channel CBS in the United States on 29/10/2022, representing a 71% increase in audience compared with the 2021 final, according to data from the American Institute Nielsen.
