Germany: DFL unanimously validates new financial agreement linking it to the DFB until 2029

The general assembly of the Deutsche Fußball Liga held in Frankfurt am Main on 09/10/2023 unanimously confirmed the new basic agreement between the DFL and the Deutscher Fussball Bund, announced the German professional football league on the same day.

The agreement, which covers the period from 01/07/2023 to 30/06/2029, was presented by the two bodies on 23/06/2023 following approval by their respective executive committees. The main elements of the agreement are as follows:

• 3% of national and international broadcasting rights for German professional football paid to the DFB by the DFL, with a minimum amount of €34.5m and a maximum of €39m for the 2023-24 and 2024-25 seasons (last annual amount received by the DFB: €26m);
• 50% of this revenue received by the DFB is paid to its 21 'state associations' (Landesverbänden, the equivalent of the FFF's Districts) as 'institutional support', with a minimum amount set at €13m per year;
