Hamas attack in Israel: European matches postponed by UEFA, sporting events suspended

"In light of the current security situation in Israel, UEFA has decided to postpone all matches scheduled in Israel in the next couple of weeks with new dates to be confirmed in due course," announced UEFA on 08/10/2023, the day after the terrorist attack carried out by Hamas in Israel which left more than 900 people dead on the Israeli side. The Palestinians, for their part, announced that the fighting had claimed nearly 700 lives in Gaza.

As a result, the Israel - Switzerland match, which had been scheduled for Thursday 12/10/2023 at Tel Aviv's Bloomfield Stadium (ISR) as part of the Euro 2024 qualifiers (Group I), has been postponed to a later date.

Also postponed are the Israel - Estonia (12/10/2023) and Israel - Germany (17/10/2023) Euro U21 qualifiers, as well as the European U17 mini-tournament between Israel, Belgium, Gibraltar and Wales from 11 to 17/10/2023.
