Rugby League: Betfred (sports betting) extends as title sponsor of the Super League until 2026

Betfred, a British sports betting operator, has extended its role as title sponsor of the Betfred Super League, the professional rugby league featuring English and French teams, for a further three seasons (2023-2026), announced the Rugby Football League (RFL), organiser of the competition, on 10/10/2023.

"The new partnership represents a 25% increase on the previous record-breaking deal (signed on 07/10/2021)," according to the body, which has been in partnership with the bookmaker since 2017. Over the 2020 and 2021 seasons, the annual fee paid for the Betfred Super League naming deal was over £1m (€1.14m), compared with £900,000 paid each year during the 2017-2019 cycle, according to British media.

Betfred is also the title sponsor of the men's second and third divisions (Betfred Championship and Betfred League 1), the women's championship (Betfred Women's Super League) and the men's and women's wheelchair rugby competitions (Betfred Challenge Cup). Betfred is also the main shirt sponsor of all the RFL's men's and women's national rugby league and wheelchair rugby teams.
