Forbes: C. Ronaldo, highest-paid footballer ($260m) in 2023-24, ahead of L. Messi & Neymar Jr

International forward Cristiano Ronaldo (38, Al Nassr FC) is the highest-paid footballer in the world during the 2023-24 season, according to Forbes magazine's list of the "World's Highest-paid Soccer players", published on 13/10/2023. The Portuguese player earned a total of $260m (€247.3m on 16/10/2023), of which $200m came directly from his sporting performances and $60m from his sponsorship contracts.

In 2022-23, Cristiano Ronaldo earned 'just' $100m (3^rd), according to a previous Forbes ranking (published on 07/10/2022), a figure that has increased by 2.6 times in just a few months thanks mainly to the signing of a three-year contract with the Saudi Arabian club that binds the two parties until 2025.

The Portuguese player is ahead of Argentina's Lionel Messi (36), who topped the rankings in 2020-21 and whose income is estimated at $135m ($65m salary and bonuses, $70m from partnerships), and who joined Inter Miami CF (MLS) in July 2023 until the end of 2025.
