ECA: report on international transfers of youth players in Europe between 2011 and 2022

These are some of the topics covered in the report "Early International Migration of Youth Players in Europe and their career paths (2011-2022)" published by the European Club Association (see below) on 16/10/2023.

The ECA study, conducted in cooperation with FIFA and the CIES Football Observatory, aims to "analyse the situation from a data perspective to better understand these international flows and the career paths they lead to," explained the European Club Association.

Of the 3,371 youth players involved in international transfers during the period studied by the ECA, 966 went to England and 829 to Italy, representing 53% of the total for clubs in these two countries. France, meanwhile, saw the most youth players leave its soil, with 246 departures.
