NFL: Roger Goodell, commissioner since 2006, extends contract until March 2027

Roger Goodell, commissioner of the National Football League, has signed a new contract with the NFL until March 2027, announced the league on 18/10/2023.

Elected to head the American football league in 2006 as successor to Paul Tagliabue, Roger Goodell has since extended his contract three times, in 2009, 2012 and 2017. He has worked for the NFL since 1982, when he joined as an administrative intern.

"Goodell's time has been marked by an emphasis on creating a safer game, shepherding the NFL through a 2020 season amid the Covid-19 pandemic in which no games were canceled and growing the game globally, highlighted by the introduction of the NFL International Series in 2007," explained the body.

"I'm obviously honored to do this job. From my standpoint, there's still a number of things we want to do as a league.
