Morocco: construction and renovation work on stadiums for AFCON 2025 and the 2030 World Cup

The partnership agreement between Aziz Akhannouch's Moroccan government and the Caisse de dépôt et de gestion marocaine, signed in Rabat (MAR) on 20/10/2023, provides for "the upgrade of six football stadiums in Tangier, Casablanca, Rabat, Agadir, Marrakech and Fez, and the construction of a new stadium in Benslimane (east of Casablanca)," in anticipation of the African Cup of Nations 2025 and the 2030 World Cup.

The Caisse de dépôt et de gestion, created in 1959, is a public financial institution that manages Morocco's long-term savings.

• Morocco was awarded the right to host the Africa Cup of Nations 2025 on 09/27/2023 (originally awarded to Guinea, then withdrawn by CAF "due to the lack of infrastructure and facilities" on 30/09/2022).
• Morocco will host the 2030 World Cup together with Spain and Portugal, announced FIFA on 04/10/2023 (the first three matches will take place in South America -Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay- to celebrate the centenary of the competition first held in 1930 in Montevideo, URU).
