Sportel Monaco 2023: "We are looking into possibilities offered by generative AI" (B. Lacheny, NBA)

"We are obviously looking into the possibilities that generative AI is offering. We are looking into what we could apply. We’ve created an “Ask NBA Bot” experiment for the last NBA Finals. We did that to allow our fans to ask anything from the most basic question to the most complicated one in multiple languages. Another thing that we've tried recently was AI-generated voice commentary in different languages. It was for an original programme that we produced about the Denver Nuggets, the 2022-23 NBA champions, that was automatically translated in French. It was grammatically correct, but sport is also about emotions. It is still hard for an AI to do a good job in this regard for now," declared  Bastien Lacheny, global media distribution leader EMEA at the National Basketball Association, at Sportel Monaco 2023 on 24/10/2023.
