Serie A / 2024-2029 TV rights: “Sky Italia and DAZN are not competent” (A. De Laurentiis, Napoli)

"This is a setback for Italian football. With this agreement, football will die. Sky Italia and DAZN are not competent, they are not good for Italian football," said Aurelio De Laurentiis, president of SSC Napoli (Serie A TIM), to the Italian media after the domestic media rights for Serie A TIM were awarded to the OTT sports platform DAZN and the pay-TV operator Sky Italia over the 2024-2029 cycle, following Lega Serie A's general assembly on 23/10/2023.

DAZN and Sky Italia have extended their broadcasting rights, in Italy, to the Serie A TIM for the 2024-2029 cycle (five seasons), on 23/10/2023. DAZN will continue to broadcast all matches, including seven out of ten on an exclusive basis per matchday, while Sky Italia will co-broadcast three games each matchday. The platform has reportedly extended these rights for €700m per year, while Sky Italia will pay an annual €200m, bringing the total amount for the Italian league's domestic media rights to €900m per year over the 2024-2029 period, according to the Italian media.
