Rugby World Cup 2023: South Africa crowned champions for the 4^th time

South Africa won the 10^th Rugby World Cup by beating New Zealand in the final (12-11) at the Stade de France in Saint-Denis (Paris, FRA) in front of 80,065 spectators on 28/10/2023.

This is the fourth World Cup won by the Springboks - a record - after the Rugby World Cup held in 1995 in their own country (victory over the All Blacks in the final), the 2007 World Cup in France and the 2019 World Cup in Japan (victories over England in the final on both occasions). The New Zealanders were crowned champions in 1987, 2011 and 2015, and the Australians in 1991 and 1999, meaning that the countries of the southern hemisphere have triumphed nine times in the competition, compared with a single victory for the northern hemisphere thanks to England in 2003.

The South African team, which has 4.45 million followers on social media (Facebook, Instagram, X and TikTok as of 29/10/2023), 34% more than at the start of the competition (3.32 million on 01/09/2023), will be looking to win a third consecutive title at the XI Men's Rugby World Cup, which will be held in Australia in 2027.
