Formula 1: DAZN acquires exclusive broadcasting rights in Spain for three seasons (2024-2026)

DAZN has acquired the exclusive broadcasting rights to the Formula 1 World Championship in Spain over the 2024-2026 cycle (three seasons), announced the OTT platform on 30/10/2023.

DAZN has been broadcasting F1 in Spain since January 2021. The Spanish telecommunications operator Telefonica had initially extended its broadcasting rights for the 2021-2023 cycle (€65m per season), on 09/10/2020, before selling them under sublicense to the OTT platform.
• This agreement triggered disciplinary proceedings by the Spanish National Markets and Competition Commission (CNMC), which resulted in the Telefonica group being fined €5m on 31/07/2023.
• The authority cited Telefonica's failure to comply with certain commitments made when it took over the pay-TV group DTS, including a commitment to exclude live broadcasts of Formula 1 races from its offer.
