Marseille-Lyon incidents: "Football really needs a wake-up call" (A. Oudéa-Castéra)

"As far as what happened to the bus that was savagely pelted with stones is concerned, I think it's quite simply unacceptable. When you look at our ability to provide impeccable security for the Rugby World Cup 2023, football really needs a wake-up call. A collective effort that is more determined than ever, with swift and extremely severe legal action. The Ligue de Football Professionnel's tough stance must be confirmed. The clubs must stand by their supporters. The demanding dialogue must be held responsibly. These sickening images, and the disgust they have aroused in us, must be a key stage in this collective effort," said Amélie Oudéa-Castéra, French Minister for Sport and the Olympic Games, on the sidelines of the Rugby World Cup 2023 closing conference on 30/10/2023.
