Incidents before OM-OL: "Unacceptable acts of violence, contrary to the values of football" (FFF)

"The acts of violence that took place on the public highway against the coaches transporting the Lyon team and its supporters to the Stade Vélodrome are unacceptable and contrary to all the values of football," stated the Fédération Française de Football on 30/10/2023.

The FFF's reaction came the day after Olympique Lyonnais coaches (those belonging to the professional team and fans) were attacked by Marseille supporters as the vehicles arrived at the Orange Vélodrome, where the club was due to play Olympique de Marseille in the final game on Matchday 10 of the 2023-24 Ligue 1 Uber Eats. Fabio Grosso (ITA), OL's coach, suffered injuries to his face when projectiles were thrown at him, shattering the windows of the vehicle in which he was travelling. The match was subsequently cancelled.

"The FFF approves of the complaints procedures initiated by the two clubs, as well as the civil action brought by the Ligue de Football Professionnel. These proceedings should make it possible to identify all the culprits so that they can be punished for their actions," said the FFF.
