Aitana Bonmatí (ESP, FC Barcelona) was awarded the 2023 Women's Ballon d'Or at the ceremony held at the Théâtre du Châtelet (Paris, FRA) marking the 5th edition of the trophy created by French magazine France Football, on 30/10/2023. Bonmatí beat Australia's Sam Kerr (Chelsea FC) and Spain's Salma Paralluelo (FC Barcelona).

Winner of the FIFA Womens World Cup 2023 with Spain, the 2022-23 UEFA Womens Champions League, the Spanish championship and the 2022-23 Supercopa de España Femenina with FC Barcelona (Liga F), the midfielder took the trophy for best player for the first time and succeeded Alexia Putellas, her team-mate at club and international level, winner in 2021 and 2022. FC Barcelona also received the new "Women's Club of the Year" award.
