Netflix: platform interested in live broadcasting of boxing fights from 2024 (press)

The streaming platform Netflix has reportedly expressed an interest in broadcasting live boxing fights from 2024, according to the Wall Street Journal on 03/11/2023.

According to the newspaper, the platform would be interested in broadcasting a live fight by professional boxer and influencer Jake Paul, as well as a fight between two boxers from the "Premier Boxing Champions" event series, currently broadcast on the US pay-TV channel Showtime (owned by US media conglomerate Paramount Global). Netflix has also produced a documentary entitled "Untold: Jake Paul the Problem Child", available exclusively on the platform.

The live broadcast of boxing matches on the platform would come at a time when Netflix will be broadcasting a live sporting event for the first time with the "Netflix Cup", a golf tournament involving several Formula 1 drivers and professional golfers from the PGA Tour, held at the Wynn Golf Club in Las Vegas (Nevada, USA) on Tuesday 14/11/2023.
