MLB Finals 2023: lowest audience ever on Fox in the USA (9.11 million viewers)

The 2023 MLB Finals, won by the Texas Rangers versus the Arizona Diamondbacks (4-1 in the series), drew an average of 9.11 million viewers, a 23% drop in the average audience compared to the 2022 season (11.78 million), on the channels of the American pay and free TV group Fox, according to data from the American institute Nielsen.

This is the lowest audience ever for the World Series in the United States, according to Nielsen. The previous lowest audience was recorded during the 2020 Finals, which drew an average of 9.95 million viewers on Fox channels (Los Angeles Dodgers 4-2 win over Tampa Bay Rays, Nielsen data).

The third game of the series (a 9-1 victory for the Texas Rangers), played on Monday 30/10/2023, was watched by an average of 8.13 million viewers on Fox channels, the worst audience ever recorded for a World Series game, again according to Nielsen.

• The 2022 finals, which saw the Houston Astros win against the Philadelphia Phillies (4-2), drew an average of 11.78 million viewers on Fox channels, according to Nielsen.
