esports: end of joint venture between Infinite Reality & Koi who leave the LEC after one season

Infinite Reality, a US company owned by ReKTGlobal and its esports teams including Rogue, and Koi, a Spanish outfit co-founded by streamer Ibai Llanos and investment group Kosmos owned by Gerard Piqué, are "amicably" terminating their joint venture after a year of existence, announced the two parties on 03/11/2023.

"Having realised that the very ambitious goals could not be achieved in the current financial climate short term, both parties have agreed to go their separate ways," said Infinite Reality and Koi.

The two entities established their alliance on 06/10/2022, enabling Koi to take Rogue's place in the League of Legends EMEA Championship (LEC, 10 teams), organised by Riot Games, from the 2023 season. ReKTGlobal had sold 40% of Rogue's slot to Koi for €20m, according to specialised media reports. "It has been my dream to bring KOI to the LEC but now it is time to reset the focus for the organisation," said Ibai Llanos.

ReKTGlobal will retain ownership of its Call of Duty, Rocket League, Rainbow Six and League of Legends teams, while Koi will retain ownership of its EA Sports FC…
