RFEF: Luis Rubiales also suspended for three years from any football-related activity in Spain

Luis Rubiales, former president of the Real Federacion Espanola de Futbol (resigned on 10/09/2023), has been suspended for three years from all football-related activities in Spain by virtue of a decision by the Administrative Sports Tribunal (TAD), according to the Spanish media outlet Iusport on 17/11/2023.

The ex-president of the RFEF has been handed two cumulative suspensions of a year and a half: the first for a forced kiss on Jennifer Hermoso, a striker for the Spanish national team, during the presentation of the Women's World Cup 2023 trophy to La Roja on 20/08/2023, and the second for behaviour deemed obscene in the official stand at Sydney's Stadium Australia during the match (he notably grabbed his genitals).

In justifying its decision, the TAD referred in particular to Luis Rubiales' lack of 'dignity', basing its arguments on the 1990 Sports Law and the 1992 Royal Decree on Sports Discipline.
