SV Werder Bremen: revenues of €120.1m (+19%) & a net loss of €3.8m in 2022-23

SV Werder Bremen GmbH & Co KGaA, a trading company wholly owned by the Bundesliga association Sport Verein Werder Bremen, posted revenues of €120.1m for the 2022-23 financial year (01/07/2022 to 30/06/2023), up 19% on the 2021-22 financial year (€102.2m) during which it played in the 2. Bundesliga, according to the Bremen-based club (Lower Saxony, Germany) at its annual general meeting on 19/11/2023.

Werder also posted a net loss of €3.8m in 2022-23, compared with a net profit of €6.3m the previous year. "The fact that the net result is negative can be explained by the fact that the transfer revenue target was not fully met. Aside from this point, the result is in line with our expectations. After promotion at the end of the 2021-22 season, our objectives - to remain in the Bundesliga and to achieve economic stability - led us to ask ourselves whether we wanted to take a slight economic risk in favour of the sporting project, which we did.
