Rugby World Cup 2023: 3.3 million views & 500,000 hours of content on RugbyPass TV

The free OTT platform RugbyPass TV recorded 3.3 million views, including 700,000 live views, during the Rugby World Cup 2023, according to figures released by World Rugby in November 2023.

RugbyPass TV broadcast almost 500,000 hours of content throughout the competition: live and on-demand matches, highlights, archives, etc. The platform has registered 1.7 million users since its launch.

World Rugby launched RugbyPass TV to broadcast international competitions and content on 25/08/2023. The international rugby federation announced the acquisition of the RugbyPass platform from the pay-TV operator Sky New Zealand on 09/10/2022. RugbyPass TV provided free coverage of the entire Rugby World Cup 2023 for countries where there was no broadcast agreement ("dark markets") or where rights holders did not broadcast all matches live.

  • RugbyPass TV provides coverage of a number of rugby competitions, including the Men's and Women's World Cups, the WXV (annual women's world competition) and the HSBC SVNS (men's and women's rugby 7s circuits).
