Real Betis Balompié: opening of an area dedicated to autistic fans at the stadium

Real Betis Balompié have opened a "sensory room" dedicated to supporters with autism at the Estadio Benito Villamarín (60,721 capacity) for when they host UD Las Palmas on Matchday 14 of the 2023-24 LALIGA EA Sports season on 26/11/2023, announced the club on 23/11/2023. The room can accommodate between four and five supporters and the same number of accompanying persons per match.

"The lights, the voices of 50,000 fans and other sounds make it impossible for people with autism, a cognitive disorder or disability to attend a football match. The noise can be threatening, irritating or exhausting for them. These rooms provide a safe atmosphere from where they can watch the game without the inconveniences that the overstimulation from the stands bring to them," explained Real Betis.

The sensory room at the Estadio Benito Villamarín will be "the first among Spanish football clubs and will be equipped with interactive activities and items, as well as adjustable lighting".
