"The leagues (of the world) must be represented on the executive committees of UEFA (Union of European Football Associations) and FIFA (Federation Internationale de Football Association). It is in this perspective that this year we will create a world association of leagues: for any decision that may affect our championships that could be taken without our consent," stated Frederic Thiriez, president of the EPFL (Association of European Professional Football Leagues), as well as the LFP (French Professional Football League), in an interview with France Football magazine dated 06/01/2015.

"The gap is too great between economic reality and political representation at European level. The national championships comprise 90% of the wealth of European football. The national team competitions are primarily organised by UEFA, with FIFA (organisation) only 10%. Despite this balance of (financial) power, we are not recognised in international forums," added Frédéric Thiriez.
