"Infrastructure is the biggest challenge facing Italian football. In the 1980s and 1990s, when resources were available, the necessary investments were not made, and an opportunity was missed with the 1990 World Cup (held in Italy)," said Lorenzo Casini, president of Lega Serie A, at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome (ITA) on 22/11/2023.

The Italian was on the main stage for the 6^th edition of the Social Football Summit (SFS), a leading international event for the football industry, which took place on 21 and 22/11/2023.

"The problem, however, is not one of resources or even the will of the clubs. We need to solve a problem of bureaucracy and guarantee the conditions so that stadium projects do not come to a standstill. Hosting Euro 2032 (with Turkey) is an opportunity to take up the stadium challenge, but it should not be the only reason to do so. We need a long-term vision," added Casini.
