Formula 1: an average of 1.11 million viewers in the United States (ABC/ESPN) in 2023 (-8.3%)

ESPN (The Walt Disney Company) posted an average audience of 1.11 million viewers for the 22 Formula 1 Grands Prix broadcast on its ESPN and ESPN 2 pay-TV channels as well as on its free ABC channel during the 2023 season in the United States, down 8.3% compared to the 2022 season (1.21 million viewers on average), announced the pay-TV bouquet on 29/11/2023.

This is "the second most-viewed F1 season ever on US television (behind the 2022 season)," said ESPN. "The growth of Formula 1 television audiences in the United States since the championship returned to ESPN platforms in 2018 remains a sports success story. Average viewership has essentially doubled from 554,000 in 2018 to 1.11 million in 2023, a total increase of nearly 100% and an average increase of 15% per year," added the group.

The audience record for the season is held by the Formula 1 Grand Prix of Miami (Florida, USA), the fifth of the 2023 season and won by Dutchman Max Verstappen (Oracle Red Bull Racing), which drew an average of 1.96 million viewers on ABC on Sunday 07/05/2023 (race start at 15:30 ET, 21:30 CET)…
