FIFA: Jordanian Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein presidential candidate "to shift the focus back to sport"

Jordanian Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein, a vice-president of FIFA (Federation Internationale de Football Association), announced his intention to run for president of the International Federation on 06/01/2015.

"I am seeking the presidency of FIFA because I believe it is time to shift the focus away from administrative controversy and back to sport," stated Ali Bin Al Hussein, who is also vice-president of the AFC (Asian Football Confederation), as well as president of the Jordanian football association, on his Twitter account. "This wasn't an easy decision. It came after careful consideration & many discussions with respected FIFA colleagues over the last few months."

  • The application deadline for candidates is 29/01/2015, four months before the election to be held on 29/05/2015 in Zurich (SUI), at the annual conference.
  • The Swiss Joseph Blatter, 78 years old, and FIFA president since 08/06/1998, announced he would run for a fifth term on 26/09/2014.
